When we arrived to Madrid for the first time, it was hard to find a good restaurant. Even when the Google ratings were high, there was always something wrong: the prices, the quality of service, the indifference of the wait staff, the language, etc.
I’ve decided to share with all travelers, residents, or just lovers of new places a spot where you can enjoy a true experience of excellent Spanish cuisine. At Los Montes de Galicia, you can meet up for a meal with friends, have a romantic dinner with your guy, or simply a drink with your business partner.
I asked Matilde, my accountant, to recommend a place where I could find great food. I was tired of tapas, tired of bars in the Sol area where all they offer is the same bad quality and high prices. Matilde has been living here for about 15 years, so I knew she’d be a good reference. We took the metro from Sol to Ventas station (the red line), then were helped by Google maps during a 10-minute walk, until we reached the restaurant’s address.
We were surprised by the waiter, who offered us an additional starter (the chef’s favorite) in addition to the one we had already ordered. Our trip to Spanish Gastronomy Land began with some wonderful octopus that I found really irresistible—you must try it! It’s called Pulpo a feira (“Galician octopus”). The chef said that it was cooked, cut into pieces, and seasoned with Andalusian olive oil, paprika, and certainly some other secret ingredient that he’ll never reveal. It’s a must and the star of this place. We finished with a surprise dessert I cannot describe—you’ve got to experience it for yourself.
So my dear travelers, tourists, and visitors to Madrid don’t be fools! Take note of this amazing restaurant for your next visit. You won’t regret it…
