LAVAPIES: The exceptional district of Madrid

When I arrived for first time to Madrid, I found myself, small, lost and astonished by the traffic jam, the noise, the high buildings, the quantity of bars and restaurants, the strikes, the demonstrations, everything made me feel small. Coming from a little city like Marbella, calm during almost all the year, anyone can understand the strong effect that I could have.

Small but big in dreaming, I have lost my job, because I was too good, I really don’t want to access to the details, but I promised to tell you the story on my next article.  I am certain that a thousand of women will show their support.

I have decided to search for places with a bit of quality, whatever it was their specialty, such places as restaurants, coffee shop, library, hairdresser, or even nails. I have always started my google search with a word “the best”. The best bar, the best “restaurant”, the best hairdresser, the best jazz club…in order to avoid the bad quality and bad service, because the majority of the places located in Sol, Plaza Mayor, Callao and Plaza España were not really fair in their product offer or price. I am really very easy person not too complicated but too meticulous, I can really cry if I called a waiter twice and he did not reply… or even had a trauma.

Ladies, if you are lovers of traveling, you may need to go deep into this experience, we need to see what usually we do not see in our town, something different.

I have walked a lot around Madrid, until I have discovered LAVAPIES.  I was in the beginning surprised for the name..it means, in Spanish, the place where you wash your legs. I have immediately thought it gonna be the most dirty area in Madrid. But I was wrong. For people like me, lovers of writing and art, This place is the appropriate to get inspired and write, or paint or create, innovate … I found people from everywhere, I heard languages that I ever heard, I saw faces I have ever seen… what a mixture of nationalities, customs, dresses, colours, and smells,  it was like a little India, little china, little Cuba and little Africa…yes all in one! living together inside of a big Madrid.
